External Iran – Kormanji Dance, Bojnord

This short film captures a poetic moment of Kormanji dance performed by young women in Bojnord, Northern Khorasan — a tradition that lives not only in movement, but in memory.

More than performance, this is a shared ritual — where men and women continue to honor the rhythm of their ancestors.

The dance is communal, grounded in heritage, and passed from body to body, heart to heart.

In this fragment from External Iran, there is no staging — only presence.

The frame holds joy, continuity, and the echo of something much older than the camera.

Production notes:

  • Shot during field recording in Bojnord, North Khorasan

  • Real-time, unstaged community dance

  • Natural light, handheld camera

  • No added sound or narration

These moments, fleeting and grounded, invite us to witness tradition in motion — not as spectacle, but as lived memory.
