Southern Iran & Islands

Southern Iran & Islands

This part of the project was shaped during a journey both by land and sea across southern Iran—through islands and ports, along the warm waters of the Persian Gulf.

We passed through Qeshm Island and Hormoz Island, then continued along the southern coastline to Bandar Pol, Bandar Khamir, Bandar Laft, Bandar Kong, and Bandar Lengeh.

Here, the earth was hot, and the sun so close that even the shadows seemed to breathe. The soil held colors—red, yellow, violet—and the silence of the islands often said more than a thousand words.

In the harbors, boats lay docked like tired toys, and men with sun-worn skin and distant eyes stood beneath a sky brighter than usual.

The wind carried the scent of salt, oil, and fish. Women in long, floral garments moved through narrow, quiet alleys.

This was the South—harsh, vibrant, and still; moving to a rhythm that came and went with the tide.
